In the Budget date 28.2.11, the FM annoounced a new category of Individuals above the age of 80. They will be given Tax Exemptions upto Rs.5 Lakhs. My Question is.... Should the people above the age of 80 should be Taxed at all..?

No the government does not allow most people to live to that age because of such heavy & double taxation scheme.e.g. Income tax, sales tax, service tax, house tax water tax etcetra. So at least 10% of people who luckily survive to that point should be completely exempted.

Sanjay is right... people that old getting taxed itself is a crime by the Govt...
If there is a limit for retirement so should b a limit for paying taxes...
unnecessary burden on the old people...

the govt should just say pay 10% of your earning no slabs no service tax no vat no cst flat 10% or may be 15% but flat all will fall into a flat bracket, there will be a smaller window for mistakes and avoiding taxes.
